Custom API Integrations

Often it is necessary to connect to another system behind the scenes to get information or to execute a request. This is often done through an Application Programming Interface (API). Authorizing and capturing funds on a credit card transaction is a common example. A user submits their card information for payment and the software communicates with another system behind the scenes to capture the funds.

There are many scenarios in which our clients might want to communicate with another company's server. For example, a business owner may opt to store his inventory at an order fulfillment warehouse. When a customer places an order on the website the order is then packaged and shipped automatically. Ideal and very convenient for the business owner, but how do we make that happen? A company such as a fulfillment warehouse typically offers an API. We at Sarasota Webs review the company API documentation and implement the necessary logic in your website to communicate with that particular system.

Another example might be an application that requires real time financial data. In this scenario we might connect to Yahoo Finance to get market data in real time. When the data comes back, the program can perform some calculation or simply display the data. All of this happens very quickly and unseen to the end user. The end user receives their data and/or calculation completely unaware that a trip was made to a Yahoo server in this case.

For clients who need to distribute information to other computers or accept requests from remote systems, we can create an API for your company enabling communications between your different networks.
